Structure Without the Cage

Freedom is a wonderful thing, but without a skeleton, it's just a puddle. To keep from being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of things I want to create, I use a loose schedule. It's a framework that allows me to track and plan while giving me the permission to shift when a specific project demands more energy.

I've established a rotation that mirrors my actual creative life. Here is the rhythm you can expect to find here:

• Mastery Monday: We sharpen the saw. This is where we break down the technical skills of drawing, painting, writing and digital modeling or any other medium we desire to explore.
• Wordbound Wednesday: A day for the poets and storytellers. We'll explore the written word and the essays that keep us thinking.
• Form & Figure Friday: We focus on the visual. From the aesthetics of a SecondLife avatar to the composition of a watercolor.
• Studio Saturday: The "Real" Day.  I'll share what I am working on, the research I am doing and the unexpected tasks that popped up during the week.

This is our map. We'll follow it as long as it serves us, and we'll change the lead the moment it doesn't.
